How do you deal with an aggressive client?

Yeah, I get that. As long as they’re paying, you manage it but it can definitely be draining dealing with clients like that. If you can avoid working with them because you can't deal with it, that's not a bad idea.

What are some common mistakes to avoid as a freelance designer?

That’s a tough lesson, but a common one for most freelancers. Once you’ve been burned like that, you don’t forget. At least, now you know to secure commitment upfront.

What are the key elements of a good design?

This is very true. Color combination is a skill on its own. If you get it right and everything will click but get it wrong and it can ruin the whole design.

What colours do you avoid in your graphics work?

Honestly, that’s true. Every colour has its place and it’s just about knowing how to use it right. A skilled designer can turn any colour into something that works.

    Adobe Photoshop

Photoshop have been around forever and it’s deeply embedded in workflows, so it’s hard to replace. Alternatives like Affinity are good, but they still miss some features and industry adoption that keep Photoshop on top.

That’s understandable. If the work was challenging and time-consuming, charging $30/hour is a reasonable rate for the value you delivered for the client.

How do you search for jobs?

Truly, dry spells happen. I just stay active and post more, reach out to people, and keep pushing on Fiverr and Instagram. I also update my portfolio and keep improving whenever I can because it helps.

Where do you sell your graphics works?

A lot of people underestimate Instagram. It's one of the best platforms where I sell my graphics design works without paying any service charge to anyone.

    Getting paid

PayPal is the only means I get my payment for any job I am going to work on for my clients. I don't understand cryptocurrency otherwise I would be open to accepting payments with it.
  13. D

What graphics do you avoid working on?

I only avoid working on things that I know it is going to be impossible for me to do a good job when a client pays for it. I don't want to disgrace myself and ruin my reputation.

Have you ever outsourced any of your jobs?

I've outsourced one of my work only once. It was because I had a family emergency that was going to take me out of town. It's going to take a while before I get back. I had to give out the job because I will not be able to complete it even a month after deadline.

    Convince them

It is only a new graphic designer that find this it very difficult to convince clients they haven't worked for before. If you have been in the business for a long time, your previous jobs makes it very easy for you to convince new clients.

There is a lot of money to be made from being a web designer because so many businesses need a website to run their businesses. It is what pushed up my interest in becoming one.

    Pay in cash

I've never gotten any job as a freelancer in which the client would want to pay by cash. It's not going to be possible because I deal with clients across the globe. I hardly get jobs that pay within my locale.
