Today, graphics design is a very popular field which almost everyone wants to part in but it's not usually like that decades ago.

If you're one of the oldies in the graphics design field, what really promoted you to taking up the skill? Was it more difficult back then than now?

I just felt like it was a skill that I should acquire. Deciding to start wasn't difficult and even when I've had challenges along the line, I believe this is one of the best decisions that I've made in a very long while.

I took the training because many of my friends were in the field already. I wanted to know how to design and hopefully, I got it.

I saw that it is a niche that still needs market, so I decided to jump on it and learn. I am almost done with the learning phase right now.

I started by drawing and tinkering with basic digital art in my spare time. As I learned more about tools like Photoshop and Illustrator, I began making posters and simple logos for friends and local events. The blend of creativity and problem‑solving really appealed to me, so I watched tutorials and took on small projects to build my skills. What began as a hobby eventually became a career because I realised how much I enjoy creating visuals that communicate clearly.

It was a hobby for me growing up. I took up a lot of projects on my own without looking at making money from it until I saw the opportunity and grabbed it with both hands.

Congratulations to you because the phase is never easy at all. There are days that you can feel like quitting but remembering what you want and how you want it, you continue to push up.

I'm always looking for another stream of income which was what led me to taking up the skill of graphics designing. I practiced for 2 years before I started making money from the skill.

It is said that one should not depend on a single source of income. We live at a time when we have to do all we can if we want to be comfortable in life. So it is a great decision you made for yourself.

Exactly! Depending on one source of income is always going to make things very difficult for you. If anything should happen to that one source of income, you have been completely destabilised.

This is something I have experienced before in the past and I know how it feels. That is why I always try to find another source of income as a supplement.

I made the decision to learn a skill that I can be proud of in the coming future and that's why I decided to go for designing. I was in school when I started learning it, wasn't easy but it helped me alot.

No one is born with the skills of being a graphic designer. Each and everyone else have to learn the whole process and become good at it.

Graphic design is a trend in the world of freelancers which was why I had to start acquiring the skill because I can't afford to be left behind.

I was getting pop up notifications on my social media accounts about learning the skill, so I decided to give it a try and I got so good at it, that's how my journey started as a graphic designer.

That’s how it starts for a lot of people simply from just curiosity from seeing others do it. I'm very glad you took the step and actually learned something useful out of it.

Working online as a freelancer, I saw it was a skill so many people are dabbling into and decided to do exactly the same thing. It's a decision I never regretted.

That is good the fact that it is working out well for you. There are others that have done the same but it did not turn out for them.
